Quin

The Xchyziiquiinjoie or as they are much more commonly and easily referred to as, "The Quin".
The Quin are a small insect like parasitic race of creatures form the small continent of  Thallos which is just southwest of Titus' Shores. They somewhat resemble the coconut grubs of Aspana although much, much bigger measuring at around 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet long. They are almost completely covered in smooth semihard malleable exoskeletal plates as a form of natural armor. They are pale in color with dull neutral tones and typically brown or even dark red coloring its head plate and legs. This "Armor" serves as the Quin's only real means of defense as they have little mobility and strength.
It is also worth mentioning that the Quin possess a mild  form of telepathy, they use this telepathy for communication amongst each other, being able to convey thoughts and ideas in mere seconds however this telepathy only works amongst the Quin. Very few other races can only perceive a small portion of this ability in the form of the Quin being able to project simple emotions and images into our minds. It's also worth noting that the Quin are completely incapable of any form of audible speech, in fact the only sound that they are able to make has been described as a quiet "Meep" sound.
In certain cultures this form of mental projection communication is considered invasive and offensive leaving the Quin at a severe disadvantage, relying heavily on interpreters for negotiations and discussions.

As mentioned previously the Quin are parasitic in nature, they require a host in which to feed from as the Quin do not have a proper digestive system, but will instead insert their proboscis into the host and link with the hosts digestive system and stomach, this bizarre method of gaining sustenance is the only means the Quin have for feeding so in reality they are completely dependent on a host  for survival. Most typically the Quin keep an assortment of animals nearby from which they are able to feed, however they have been known to use consenting people to achieve the same result, to the dismay of  many outsiders looking in.

More astonishingly the Quin not only link with the digestive system but also the circulatory and nervous systems along with muscle control, higher brain activity, sensory input, and even metabolic rate. In short the Quin can "Pilot" their hosts able to move, walk and even talk.  That being said however if a Quin is linked with another race such as humans for example, for whatever reason may be their power of telepathy is amplified tenfold. While linked with a host they are able to communicate directly to individual minds from across the room, being able to convey complex thoughts and abstract ideas just as the Quin would with each other. Individuals that are joined with a Quin are commonly called "Doakuu'lus" a Hujann word meaning "fake man" or "hollow man".
Along with their increase in telepathic abilities the Doakuu'lus Quin are also able to extract memories and mental images from other ordinary people. Most outside cultures frown upon this "invasive"form of telepathy, however within the United Council of Provinces it is seen as a necessity and blessing in the Courts of law within the Temples of Judgment . This Doakuu'lus ability is used in extreme circumstances such as murders, war crimes, high political crimes and suspected treasons.
For their overwhelming contributions within the Temple of Judgment the Quin are highly trusted and respected within the United Council of Provinces well earning their place within our society.

Within the Quin society there is no such thing as customs,  religion, marriages, writing , record-keeping , government or even laws. In large groups and gatherings the Quin seem to function as a sort of "Hive Mind " working together towards common goals. That being said however that the Quin are able to function by themselves just fine. The one and only thing every Quin is obsessed with is making everything more efficient and as simplistic as possible. Because of this the Quin highly sought after within the United Council of provinces, many go out of their way to hire any Doakuu'lus Quin they can for any positions of management or even as advisors.
When questioned about the Quin's lack of authority figures and any form of rule or regulation. The Quin then spent the next several hours questioning our scholars and scribes as to why we have need of such things. Later the Quin referred to us as being "Disturbingly and Dangerously Overcomplicated."
It is only in recent years that the Quin have developed their own written language and coat of arms purely out of political necessity rather than by choice. That being said however the Quin always striving for the overly simplistic decided on a simple "handprint" as their coat of arms.

To the Quin procreation is more of a chore than any kind of pleasure. The Quin reproduction cycle begins when a female lays a large clutch of unfertilized eggs (it is also worth noting that the Quin are not fussy about where they lay their eggs, they have been known to lay them anywhere and everywhere they so choose, Disregarding any other races sense of personal space or any sense of being sanitary conditions.)
These eggs can lay dormant for up to five years without decaying or deteriorating. Once the eggs are fertilized by a male the eggs only require a little under seven months to fully mature however they won't hatch until a suitable host wanders near the clutch of eggs. While the unborn Quin aren't conscious they do however have a form of subconscious telepathic "Beacon" that calls to suitable hosts towards the nest. Most races are resistant to this Beckoning call, however while animals and the like are more prone to approach.
The average lifespan for a Quin is anywhere between 90 and 140 years old.
